John Lovell graduated from the University of Miami with a degree in Jazz Performance in 1984.  He has performed or toured with a variety of artists including Lionel Richie, Bob James, Tony Bennett, The O’Jays, The Spinners, The Temptations, The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, Brian Wilson, Bobby Caldwell, Ben E. King, Philly Joe Jones, Ralph Macdonald, Paquito D’Rivera and Sammy Figueroa.

He was twice nominated for a Grammy for the albums “And Sammy Walked In” and “The Magician” with percussionist Sammy Figueroa. 

John has been a member of Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band for the past 29 years, where he has appeared on over 20 recordings and tours the world performing 30 to 40 shows per year.
